One-to-One Drum Lessons

What the lessons are like
Every student is different, so every lesson is different. I spend time getting to know your needs, then we’ll work at your pace and towards your goals. In addition to hitting drums, you will learn tuning, how to develop tone and feel, correct technique and good posture, and playing in a relaxed manner to avoid injury.
I teach rock, pop, R&B, funk, jazz, reggae, ska, latin and metal and can tailor the lessons to prepare you for drum grading exams with Trinity Rock and Pop, MTB and Rockschool.
Although it can take a long time to become a virtuosic player, you can learn enough to start playing with a band in a fairly short period. I believe anyone who has the desire can learn how to be a great drummer. The only requirement is the will to work at it.
Who I teach
I’ve taught students from age five to eighty, each bringing their unique musical tastes and attitude to drumming. I have an enhanced DBS certificate and have helped many children get started on their drumming journey. Together with other music teachers Rodrigo Lemos and Zdena Prostecka, I run In The Pocket Music School band workshops for talented young musicians at all levels.
Where I teach
Lessons take place at my studio in Edgware, North-West London. It’s a 5 minute walk from Edgware Tube station and easy to reach from Mill Hill, Harrow, Wembley, Kingsbury, Queensbury, Collingdale, Hendon, Golders Green, Finchley, Stanmore and the surrounding areas.
About Me
I’ve been teaching drums full-time since 2008 and playing since I was 10. I love sharing my knowledge of the instrument and the music I enjoy, and seeing my students discover and progress their own musical paths.
